Paul Murphy ’84
Coaching the Girls Varsity Swim team since 1991, Paul Murphy ’84, P’16, ’19, ’22 has helped Andover consistently place in the top 3 teams in New England. New England Champions in 2009, 2002-2006, and 1998 (in a tie with Exeter), the team was also the Runner-up in '19, '18, '14, '11, '10, '01 and '00. In 2013, 2014, 2017-2020, the team competed in the Eastern Interscholastic Swim/Dive Championship, hosted by Germantown Academy, in Philadelphia, PA and placed 4th, 6th, 4th, 4th, 8th and 4th overall, respectively. Coach Murphy has coached more than 25 All-American swimmers, has compiled a career record of 190-44-3 by the close of the 2020 season and been named Coach of the Year by the Eagle-Tribune in 2003, 2005 and 2011. Coach Murphy also teaches in the math department, holding the Class of 1915 / Garrigues Teaching Foundation. He lives on campus, serving as a house counselor with his wife, Debby Burdett Murphy ’86, and their three children.
