Professional Staff

Phillips Academy employs four full-time Athletic Trainers, under the direction of the School Physician. The Athletic Trainers are responsible for the prevention and care of all athletic injuries. Each Athletic Trainer is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association - Board of Certification (NATA-BOC) and licensed to practice as an Athletic Trainer within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Athletic Trainers are members of the Physical Education department. The Athletics Director, along with the School Physician, oversees the Athletic Training Program and its facilities. The Athletic Trainers serve as the link between the Athletics Program and the medical community. Noteworthy, are the weekly orthopedic clinics held at the Sykes Wellness Center.

Trainers are on duty whenever there are practices and games scheduled.

Facilities

Phillips Academy has three training facilities—the Main facility located in Borden Gym, the Ice Rink facility, and the Snyder Center facility. All rooms contain the most modern treatment and recovery modalities. There is a wide array of cardiovascular endurance and muscular strengthening equipment maintained within the Athletic Training Room and The Rosenau Fitness Center, which is used in the prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Aquatic therapy takes place in the pool, which has become an important part of the rehabilitation process.
