Boys JV1 squash is, in reality, an extension of the boys varsity team. The competitive squash program has one, continuous ladder that begins with the number one varsity player and proceeds all the way to the last JV2 competitor. Each week the team conducts 'challenge matches' that are designed to provide players with the opportunity to compete at a higher level. Hence, JV1 players can (and certainly have) moved up into the varsity ranks during the season. It is worth noting that many of our players are 'home-grown'. In other words, they have learned to play squash at Andover, and have improved to a point where they earn a spot on the JV squad.
