(Andover, MA) – This fall, amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, seven returners from the 2020 Boys’ Varsity Swimming & Diving team opted to remain home: Brendon Fang ’22, Max Fang ’22, Ralph Lam ’22, Marcel Liu ’23, swimming captain Marcus Lee ’21, Trey Wolfe ’23, and Hank Yang ’22. In their home communities, these student-athletes participated in Andover life virtually and took advantage of training, to the extent to which their local communities allowed.
The seven other returners from the 2020 team were able to come to campus: Gregor Deveau ‘21, Alexander Grande ’21, Yubo Jin ’21, Jay Pae ’23, Bennett Pease ’21, diving captain Zack Peng ’21, and Christopher Xia ’23. On campus, these swimmers and divers did a variety of things, including playing water polo, going off the boards, and doing some swimming training.
The swimmers and divers on campus also joined several returners from last year’s Junior Varsity team—Henrique Chamon ’21, Theo Fagueres ’21, James Isenhower ’22, Marcel Montemayor-Fontes ’23—as well as many rookies, including: Quinn Domina ’24, Raymond Ge ’24, Andrew Kim ’23, Sam Lee ’24, Ashton Ma ’24, Raphael Sibuet ’24, and Andrew Zhou ’24.
Just before Thanksgiving, the squad on campus was able to have a virtual meet with the Dalton School in Georgia and the McCallie School in Tennessee. While we do not have a varsity team this year, it was great to be able to swim and dive. (Unfortunately, Lee, Pease, Xia, and Pae were unable to compete).
