Several Big Wins for Big Blue in the New Year!
Our girls’ basketball program certainly has had an exciting, successful week!
Girls’ Varsity hoops, coached by Jen Weissbach, Chris Jones, and Molly Creamer and captained by Ava Davey, Sophia Dandaw,a and Emerson Buckley, secured back-to-back thrillers with a 48-47 win on the road at Govs on. Friday night and then an exciting Class A victory at home versus Milton on Saturday afternoon, 48-42.
JV girls’ basketball coached by Gene Hughes and Adrian Venzon knotted their record at 2-2 with a strong team game win, 31-15 v. Milton JV!
GV hockey is undefeated in 2025 with five wins and zero losses - and has outscored opponents 35-6 since the start of the year. GVHockey is coached by Martha Fenton, Matt Hession, and Dan Holland and captained by Peyton Kennedy and Molly Boyle.
BVbasketball - coached by Terrell “TI” Ivory (happy belated birthday, TI!),, Dan Schneider, and Malkese Edwards won a thriller on the road at Brooks in the final seconds of play with a game-winning shot by Roman Perdoni ‘25. BVhoops is captained by Xavier Abreu and Oli Ogueri.
Moving beyond the familiar...shout out to swimmers Frida Martinez ‘27 and Shannon Madaras-Inca ‘26 who competed in their first EVER swim meet on Wednesday.
HUGE shoutout to our wrestling team and coaches Kassie Bateman, Jason York, and Rich Gorham who traveled two weeks in a row to Choate Rosemary Hall (another 10-hour day!) to compete in the 8-schools dual tournament. The highlights were many including four wrestlers going undefeated (4-0) on the day Seb Haferd ‘25, captain Julian Rios ‘26, Brady Haskell ‘28, and James Bae ‘26. Andover wrestling defeated Hotchkiss, Lawrencevill,e and Deerfield on the day in the dual match-ups.
Congratulations to BJVHockey coached by Matt Lisa and Peter Dignard for a dramatic 4-3 win on Harrison Rink on Wednesday afternoon versus Brooks. Also on Wednesday, BVHockey won in overtime thanks to captain Chas Sabre’s goal on an assist from teammate Rui Han.
Shout out to girls’ JV2 squash coached by Fei Yao who with a strong 10-0 win on Monday versus visiting Brookwood School.
