James Beaudoin

Head Coach

Coach Beaudoin has spent seventeen seasons coaching and teaching at the high school level, public and private, including Chase Collegiate, Proctor Academy, and for the last seven years before Andover, at Cohasset High School. He has amassed over 200 career wins and was named Boston Globe Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2018 and US Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 2009 for all Western New England private schools. He was also the Vice President of the New England Secondary School Lacrosse Association from 2010 to 2012. Coach Beaudoin has coached 14 All-Americans and 6 Academic All-Americans. He has won 2 Massachusetts state championships and 3 Western New England championships during his time as a head coach.

Coach Beaudoin is committed to supporting his players both on and off of the lacrosse field. His players are taught to care deeply about each and every part of their Andover experience. He is continually inspired by the incredible traditions at Andover and looks forward to building on that solid foundation for the future of Andover boys’ lacrosse.

Coach Beaudoin grew up on the campus of Proctor Academy (Andover, NH) prior to enrolling at the University of Vermont where he competed as a goalkeeper on the Catamount men’s lacrosse team. He lives in Andover with his wife, Monica, their 3 sons, Grayson, Wells and Tillman, and their two dogs, Bruin (Newfoundland) and Murdock (Bernese Mountain dog).

Martha Fenton ’83

Assistant Coach

After graduating from Andover, Coach Fenton played collegiate level hockey for four years at Bowdoin College. Once graduated from Bowdoin, Fenton took a year abroad before becoming the assistant coach at Phillips Exeter Academy. Following her three years in New Hampshire, Fenton returned to the Andover coaching staff as an Andover Girls Hockey assistant coach. Fenton took over as head coach after two years and has maintained her position for the last 25 years.

Coach Fenton’s coaching philosophies are based around her dedication to building a strong team dynamic. She believes that even the strongest group of individual players may not necessarily make the best team if they do not play cohesively and communicate.

In addition to being the Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey coach, she is an assistant coach with Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey and Boys' Varsity Lacrosse, and serves as Cluster Dean of West Quad North.

Andover coaches build trust and teach compassion, accountability, and gratitude—life lessons we hope will serve our students well.
