Shalise Manza Young

Head Coach

Coach Shalise Manza Young is beginning her first year as Andover's Director of Track and Field after coaching at the Winsor School since 2009. The sport has shaped her personally and professionally since joining her high school team, and she was inspired to begin coaching by her indoor track coach, who pushed his athletes to challenge themselves but was also their biggest cheerleader. While at Winsor, Shalise served as head coach for nine years and associate head coach for seven. In that time Winsor won the Eastern Independent League championship meet nine consecutive times and she was voted the league's girls' track and field coach of the year seven times. As sprints, hurdles and high jump coach she guided numerous EIL champions and NEPSTA Div. II honorees as well as the 2025 MIAA Division I state champion in triple jump.
Coach Shalise has earned USA Track and Field Level 1 certification. A graduate of Syracuse University where she was on the track team for two years, she spent most of her adult life away from the track as a sports writer, a career that included covering eight Super Bowls and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, and several national writing awards. She lives in Boston with her family and their dog, a Rottweiler named Coco.
