GVS earns first shut-out win on Friday afternoon on Graves Field
On another beautiful day for soccer, GVS played a fantastic 80 minutes to earn their first shutout of the season, 3-0 over St. Paul's School.
Controlling the run of play for much of the match, GVS found its way to the scoreboard on a free kick from Keaghan Murphy that was volleyed in by captain Hayden Fischer at the 22nd minute mark.
Entering the 2nd half with a 1-0 advantage, GVS kept the pressure on. Wylie Roossien '26 stretched the lead with a blast from outside the 18 which beat the SPS keeper. In the final minutes of play, leading scorer Emily Mara '25 kept the game out of reach with the final tally.
Goalkeeper Jackie Dill had six saves on the day for the team shutout with a great backline of captain Ava Davey, Keaghan Murphy, Lily Keim, Nina Oswasnki and Emily Decker. Lily Keim played incredibly well out of the back and was named Player of the Game.
Thanks to all those who came out in support including former GVS goalkeeper AJ Alicea '24 on the sidelines!
GVS record extends to 7-3-1.
