Family Weekend Win for GVS
Family Weekend kicked off on Friday afternoon with our annual GVS Family Practice - always a high-energy event and arguably one of the highlights of the GVS season. Beth Jordan, mom of Hannah '24, was named Player of the Day for her 'whatever it takes' defending. The parent penalty kick-off was...spirited for sure. We are glad that GVS does NOT take after their parents in terms PK-success.
Saturday afternoon brought a steady rain but that did not dampen GVS spirits from start to finish. The Big Blue jumped on the scoreboard early with a fantastic thru pass from captain Emily Mara '24 to Hayden Fischer '24. Mara struck again on a PK to bring the team into the half leading 2-0. Player of the Game Hannah Jordan kept the game out of reach with a gritty play in the box to push the score to 3-0.
Best of all, a true TEAM effort - and supported every step of the way on the sidelines by parents, grandparents, siblings - and even last year's GVS captain, KBu '23 made an appearance.
Thank you to all who made this weekend special - a shoutout to GK Jill Reichenbach's parents who provided snacks and drinks at the end of the game.
