GVS rallies for 2-1 win over Austin Prep
GVS traveled to Austin Prep on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon as we kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Big Blue looked sluggish for much of the first forty minutes of play and Austin Prep found their way to the scoreboard first to bring the host school into the half with a 1-0 lead.
GVS re-grouped at halftime to bring more energy and better team play to the final 40 minutes. Lower Keaghan Murphy slotted home a PK five minutes into the 2nd half to knot the game at 1-1. Senior Ginny Marshall and ninth grader Nina Oswanski came off the bench in the second half to provide their team a much needed spark. With fifteen minutes left to play, Oswanski send a great ball into the box that Emily Mara played to Ginny who blasted home the game-winner. Ginny was named Player of the Game!
Thank you to the Herlihy family who hosted us at their home for an amazing team dinner. The team's record stands at 5-2-1. Onward to Choate!
