GVS falls short in spite of strong 2nd half effort

The Big Blue found itself chasing the game early on as Loomis Chaffee found the back of the net in the first 1:30 of play. Loomis used that score to get and hold momentum for much of the first forty minutes of play, entering the half 1-0.

The second half was a different story and GVS came out renewed in their energies and efforts. Still, Loomis stretched the lead to 2-0 on a corner kick, once again early in the second half. The difference this half was Andover dug in and continued to push into Loomis' half of the field. At the thirty minute mark, co-captain Mary Stuart Kerrigan ripped a direct kick from 30 yards out over the head of the Loomis keeper who had eight saves on the day. Andover keeper Sofia Traversari-Sotomayor '23 was fantastic once again coming up big with six saves on the day.

Co-Captain Myra Bhathena '22 proved to be the positive spark GVS needed and was named Player of the Game. Other notable play from Lily Haik '22, Kendall Toth '24, Emma Robinson '23, Lulu Rourke '23, Tori Darling '23, Kennedy Smith '22 and Emily Mara '25. Marie-Eve Marleau '22 stepped in at outside back and once again, showed us all what a tremendous athlete she is - modeling "whatever it takes."

On the sidelines, we were delighted to see former GVS standout Anna Hurley '21. We are thankful, as always, for our families for cold drinks and snacks and for EKelly's dad who takes amazing photos too (GVS seniors, we are grateful for you!)
