Player of the Game Bhathena '22 scores the game winner over NMH
Perhaps most importantly of all today was the fact that GVS celebrated Family Weekend with their loved ones. As has been the tradition on Family Weekend, the Andover girls showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month alongside visiting Northfield Mount Hermon.
The match was an exciting 80-minutes for all in attendance. Midway through the first half, all scoring was tallied in minute and a half in a heart-stopping match-up against NMH. Playing on Graves Field on a beautiful Parents' Weekend Saturday, GVS found their way to the scoreboard first on a Rachel Chang corner. Senior Nicola Sommers got her foot on the ball for the first score of the game. Moments later, NMH took advantage on a heads-up counter attack and beat GK Emily Hardy at the top of the 18. Not to be discouraged, GVS strung together passes from out of the back eventually to the top of the 18 when Nicola Sommers chipped a perfect ball to Myra Bhathena '22 on the far post who headed the ball in to give Andover the lead it would need to win. Myra was named P.O.G.
A special thanks to our entire GVS family who were in support of GVS today and always. Also - thanks to Coach Noureddine and Athletic Trainer Amy Wiggins who both stepped in and up to coach the team on the sidelines. #GVSFamForever
