GVS girls remain undefeated with 3-1 win over Class A power Loomis Chaffee
Meeting up against 2018 Class A finalist Loomis Chaffee, GVS captain Maddy Silveira put the Andover girls out ahead three minutes into the game as Anna Hurley pulled her Pelican defender to find teammate Silveira on the weak side post. With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, midfielder Karoline Conte '21 picked up the ball in the midfield third and attacked the top of the 18, ripping a shot to the near post and beyond an outstretched Loomis keeper.
The second half of play saw more strong possession by the Big Blue. After hitting four posts, striker Isobel Glass found the back of the net as Anna Hurley notched her second assist of the day from the midfield. Midfielder play by Liberty Stam, Isabella DiBenedetto, Mary Stuart Kerrigan, Anna Hurley, Emily Kelly and Lily Haik was outstanding.
This was a tremendous team effort with all available GVS players earning important minutes. GK Emily Hardy '20 was particularly spectacular making three big saves including ones in the final minutes of play to earn player of the game.
Former GVS players/captains Hannah Guzzi, Abby Harris, Kate Schulte and Julie Wadland supported in the crowd. We love when our GVS family returns to cheer us on. A special thanks to our AMAZING GVS parents, siblings AND managers who provide endless support of the players and coaches.
