GVS extends record to 2-0 behind two goal effort from Captain Maddy Silveira

GVS faced perennial powerhouse The Rivers School at home on Smoyer Field. The game was well-played for eighty minutes on both sides. The Andover girls were able to take advantage of the few opportunities they were given by a stingy Rivers defennse. Maddy Silveira put GVS out ahead in the first half and Nicola Sommers put an exclamation mark on her birthday by drawing a foul in the penalty box and extending the lead, 2-0 as the first half drew to a close.

The second half saw more exciting back and forth play. Isobel Glass sent a beautiful ball into the box and Maddy Silveira put it away one time to extend the league. As the second half drew to a close, Mary Stuart Kerrigan played an incredible ball from the defensive third to Glass who scored her second goal in as many games.

Emily Hardy was spectacular in goal with a clean sheet with five saves and Andover backs, Mack Lucas, Rachel Chang, Karoline Conte, Emma Fogg, Athalia Esty and Myra Bhathena proved unbeatable. The entire GVS squad contributed in an exciting, team-oriented win. Nicola Sommers played a particularly inspired game and was named Player of the Game.
