GVH finishes week on a high note with 3-2 come-from-behind victory over a talented Deerfield team.

The Big Blue had a BIG week, going 3-0 against quality opponents. We knew that our game today against a 15-1-1 Deerfield team would be a battle from start to finish, and it did not disappoint. Deerfield came out strong in the first, scoring a short-handed goal at 8:41 and then a power play goal 2 minutes later. Determined not to go into the break 2 goals down, the team dug for their own power play goal with just 16 seconds on the clock. Lilly McInerney '26 finished off a beautiful passing sequence from Maggie Averill '27 and Keira Bruen '26. The second and third periods were fast paced, end-to-end hockey with lots of opportunities for both teams but Avery Rodeheffer held Deerfield at bay while Caroline Averill ('26) tied the game (assist to Lily Loughlean '27) and Sarah Powers '26 got the eventual game winner with 1:50 to play in the second period. Linemates Peyton Kennedy '25 and Emily Mara '26 assisted on Powers goal. The team will head to Tabor on Wednesday.
