First game is a win
Andover’s JV Field Hockey team started the season off strong with a win over Pingree in their first game. Playing well together from the start, Andover kept up the pressure throughout the entire game, riding the momentum of a goal scored in the first quarter by Izzy W. ’28. After conceding a goal late in the second quarter, Andover regrouped during halftime and once again attacked together in the third quarter, with Abigail N. ’27 taking the ball up and scoring on a fast break following a sharp pass from midfield. Also in the third quarter was a fantastic save by goalie Cat P. ’28, who denied Pingree a game-tying penalty stroke. Andover secured the win with a two-point lead in the fourth quarter, after a team effort of repeated shots in the cage ending with a pass outside that was received and hammered into the back of the net by Kalista K. ‘28. Showing strong team play and skill today, JV Field Hockey will continue to work to keep the momentum going and bring home another win.
