Competitive game against Deerfield ends in a tie
Today was possibly Andover JV Field Hockey’s most exciting game of the season! In this heated match against Deerfield, tensions were high from the start, with Deerfield putting the pressure on Andover’s team consistently in the first half. Although Deerfield had a fierce offense, Andover’s amazing defense held out, with goalie Cat P. ‘28 saving almost 10 shots in the first half alone. In the third quarter, Cat kept up the performance with an amazing save on a stroke. Other players on defense saved some very close calls as well, with both Alex H. ‘28 and El Y. ‘28 whacking the ball out of the goal during a penalty corner. After being out of the last few games due to a concussion, returning captain Phia C. ‘26 also played amazing defense and proved integral in keeping Deerfield from scoring. In the fourth quarter, Andover’s team turned the tables on Deerfield’s offense as Abi N. ‘27 made use of a great hit from half field by Sydney M. ‘28 to score the first goal of the game. Just before the game’s end, Deerfield managed to tie Andover with a goal of their own. Andover’s JV Field Hockey team displayed an amazing harmony today with each player being at the top of their game, resulting in an exciting tie with Deerfield.
