Comeback after early goal
Andover’s JV Field Hockey put on an exciting performance today. The Governor’s Academy came out aggressive, scoring a goal in the final seconds of the first quarter, but Andover regrouped and retaliated with a goal of its own scored in the second quarter by Meghan M. ‘28. This goal immediately shifted the momentum and Andover kept up the pressure, keeping the ball in Gov’s side for the rest of the second quarter and well into the third, almost scoring multiple times in the process. But Andover’s second goal couldn’t be postponed for long; Gov’s never fully recovered the momentum and Andover took the lead early in the fourth with another goal scored by Abi N. ’27 on a pass from Sophia T. ’26. Some other Andover team members who stood out today were Cindy Z. ’27 with two great half-field passes, Annie M '27 on defense with some great saves, and Sydney M. ’28 with an amazing consistent effort throughout the game. Andover managed the clock for the remainder of the quarter and ended the game with a 2-1 win.
