Beautiful night for a win
Ending the season on a win in an away game at our rival school Exeter, Andover’s JV Field Hockey showed up and showed out, demonstrating exceptional teamwork, grit, and passion. From the moment the team stepped onto the field, they played with zeal, going neck and neck with their rivals. Late in the second quarter, Exeter got the upper hand and Andover conceded a goal. But after rallying together during halftime, Andover broke through Exeter’s defense early in the third, with Abi N. ’27 scoring Big Blue’s first goal of the game, tying the score 1-1. The game shifted back and forth, with the ball seing both Andover’s and Exeter’s side of the field, but neither could manage to circumvent the other’s defense and score. Not until the dwindling last minutes of the fourth quarter at least, when Sophia T. ’26 took the ball up the middle to Exeter’s end. She passed it to Meghan M. ’28, who shot the game-winning goal into the back of Exeter’s net with 01:23 left in the game. From there, Andover’s defense locked down and played smart.
