loss in a good game at Austin Prep
Andover’s JV Field Hockey faced Austin Prep on the road, looking to improve their play on turf. The game started off with a lot of back-and-forth between the two teams, until Austin Prep pushed the ball to Andover’s side of the field and crowded the goal, eventually pushing the ball into the goal. Heating up and picking up momentum in the second quarter, Andover made multiple breakthroughs towards Austin Prep’s side of the field, but faced some difficultly scoring. However, Andover maintained possession of both the ball and space on the field throughout the second quarter. The second half of the game saw multiple penalty corners and shots at goal for Andover. The final minutes were thrilling, with the last shot at goal hitting the right post of the goal as the seconds ticked down into the single digits. Notable players included Ashley S. ’27 and Meghan M ’28, who showed impressive stick work and initiated momentum-shifting fast breaks. Andover looks to show up and show next game at Exeter, which will be the last of the season.
