Andover crowns two champions and places 4th out of 12 teams

Andover crowned two individual champions today at the Class A league tournament at the Hyde School in Bath, ME. Colin Nugent ’23 went 3-0 at 126 lbs, pinning his first two opponents in the first period, and defeating his St. Paul’s opponent 7-0 in the finals. Co-captain Eamon Garrity-Rokous ’20 also won his first Class A championship at 170 lbs; he pinned his first two opponents, and tech falled his NMH opponent 27-12 in the finals. Arnav Bhakta ’22 (113) and Miles Palmer ’23 (120) both dominated their first two matches, but fell in the finals and placed 2nd. Co-captain Marisol Nugent ’20 (145) and Thomas Radzik ’20 (285) each went 3-1 and placed 3rd in their respective weight classes. Riggs McGrath ’21 went 3-2 and placed 4that 160 lbs; Nick Buehler ’21 and Michael Soto ’23 both placed 6th. Andover placed 4th out of 12 teams. Also competing well for Andover were Macsen Elkouh ’22, Somen Chakrabortti ’22, Oscar Bunting ’21, Mac McGrath ’23, and Adrian Morrison ’23.

Eight Andover wrestlers qualify for the New England championships based on their dual meet record and/or their results today: Arnav Bhakta, Miles Palmer, Colin Nugent, Marisol Nugent, Riggs McGrath, Eamon Garrity-Rokous, Nick Buehler, and Thomas Radzik.
