In our second dual meet the team took on St. Paul’s for the second time this season. We fell behind early, losing the first 3 bouts, until at 157 James Bae ’26 put team points up on the board with a pin, making the team score 6-17. At 165 Sean Flynn ’27 followed up with a pin of his own, closing the gap 12-17. We lost the next three matches, and at 285 Sebastian Haferd ’25 pinned his opponent, making the team score 18-35. At 113, 120, and 126 Akyali ’28, Rios ’26 and Haskell ‘28 all recorded pins again, but it wasn’t enough to get Andover over the line, and we lost the dual to SPS 36-47.
In our third dual of the day Andover took on Lawrenceville. At 150 Magnus Julin ’25 pinned his opponent and put Andover’s first team points up on the board. At 157 and 165 James Bae ’26 and Sean Flynn ’27 added pins of their own to give Andover the lead 18-6. At 106, 113, and 120 Akyali ’28, Rios ’26, and Haskell ’28 all recorded pins to give Andover the lead 42-24. Andover lost at 126 and 132, but co-captain Dani Nugent ’25 solidified the win with a pin at 138, and Andover won the dual meet 48-36.
Since the team was 2-1, we were slated to wrestle Choate, who went 3-1 in their pool. Since we had just wrestled Choate the previous weekend (for the second time), we opted to wrestle Deerfield instead. The team won many of it’s matches by forfeit. Matches of note were a pin from James Bae ’26 at 165; and pins for Rios ’26 and Haskell ’28 at 120 and 126.
The team went 3-1 on the day, improving our record to 7-5. We had a great showing of fans at Choate and are so appreciative of our families for their support. Next weekend we head to Exeter for the Seabrooke duals, our last dual meets of the season before tournaments begin.
In exhibition matches against St. Paul’s, Andover went 4-0 with pins from Gentry Thatcher ’27, Tasha Bohord ’26, Ophelia Lee ’26, and a 6-4 decision from Christian Robinson.
