Andover improves dual record to 4-4

Andover traveled to Concord Academy today and came away with the win, improving the team record to 4-4. At 106 Serra Akyali ’28 started the dual off with the first period pin over the returning New England Champion in her weight class. At 113 Julian Rios ’26 also secured a first period pin. At 120 Brady Haskell ’28 won by forfeit. At 132 Narek Hambardzumyan won a close 13-7 decision, improving the team score to 21-6. Andover lost the next bout, but at 144 Dani Nugent ’25 won a major decision 13-0, and improved the team score to 25-12. We lost the next bout, and at 157 Bodhi Beroukhim ’25 won an exciting back and forth match 15-10 to give Andiver the lead 28-17. At 175 Sean Flynn ’27 pinned his opponent in the second period. At 190 Konnor Fortini ’28 won by forfeit, and at 285 Sebastian Haferd ’25 set a new school record with a 7 second pin over his opponent. The final team score was 46-29.

In exhibition matches against the Wheeler School, Brady Haskell ’28, Magnus Julin ’25, and Sebastian Haferd ’25 all won their matches by pin. In exhibition matches against Concord Academy Willy Park ’26 won by technical fall; David Siahaan ’27 won 6-3; and Matthew Lam ’28 won his first ever match by pin.

On Saturday the team travels to Choate for the Eight Schools Dual Tournament.
