Andover defeats Choate in rematch

For our first dual meet of 2025 Andover won on the road against Choate, improving the team record to 3-4. At 106 Serra Akyali ’28 put the first team points on the board for Andover with a 44 second pin; at 113 Christian Robinson ’28 won by forfeit; at 120 Brady Haskell ’28 pinned his opponent in 35 seconds, giving the team an 18-6 lead over Choate. Choate won the next two bouts by pin, making the team scored tied 18-18. At 138 Dani Nugent ’25 won a close 11-10 decision to give Andover the lead again. Andover lost the next two bouts, but then at 157 James Bae ’26 won by forfeit; at 165 Sean Flynn ’27 won by pin, and at 175 Nick Lima ’25 won by forfeit. To close out the dual meet at 215 Sebastian Haferd ’25 won by pin, giving Andover the victory 45-30.

In exhibition matches, Willy Park ’26 won 4-2, and Cindy Zhou ’27 dominated her match 8-0 before securing the pin in the third period.

On Wednesday Andover heads to Concord Academy for a dual meet.
