Andover wins 6 out of 9 matches at the inaugural girls dual meet

Andover hosted the first of two scheduled girls meets this year. These meets are open to any school with female wrestlers that want to participate. While many schools initially signed up to participate, several had to cancel due to their school's Covid protocols and restrictions. Deerfield and Nobles were able to attend, and 11 wrestlers from the 3 schools competed in 9 matches. Sakina Cotton '24 went 2-0. She had an exciting 3rd period pin in her first match. Her second match went into overtime against a more experienced opponent, but Sakina was able to score 2 to clinch the win. Eva Murphy '25 also went 2-0 and earned 2 pins. Dani Nugent '25 also pinned her opponent. Wrestler of the meet was Dorothy Swanson-Blaker '24 who, in her first ever wrestling match, won an exciting 5-3 Overtime victory. Also competing well for Andover were Sonia Xiong '24, Julia Carmona '24, and Isa Matloff '24.

We look forward to hosting our 8th annual girls wrestling tournament on January 30!
