BXC Runners Notch 20 PRs for Family Weekend Race

On a crisp, breezy fall day on Family Weekend, the Phillips Academy boys' cross country team took on a strong NMH team on the home course.

Leading the way once again, Tam Gavenas ('25) beat the field, winning in 16:12 and lowering his own ninth-grade class record. Trying to infiltrate a powerful NMH pack but ultimately running out of course, Aidan Lin ('23) and Luke Williamson ('25) turned in incredible PR performances that bode well for future meets. The next four also ran personal record times: Isaac Heitmann ('22), captain Matthew Ottenbreit ('22), Constantine Krenteras ('24), and Nolan Goldthwaite ('22). Despite the excellent performances of the PA seven, NMH's pack won the day with a great team effort.

Ethan Qi ('23) paced the JV squad by running a PR. He was closely followed by a hard-working pack of PA runners: Glen Cahilly ('23), Sebastian Lemberger ('25), and John Wang ('22). Max Gomez ('23) and Nigel Savage ('23) came next--with Savage running a big-time, 37-second PR. And rounding out the JV seven with one of the biggest PRs of the day--an impressive 43-second personal record--was Bryan Chyu ('23). JV wins, 25-34.

The PA runners look forward to traveling to Deerfield next Saturday (10/30).
