Tensions High With 5 Time OT, Sudden Death

September 18th 2019, Andover hosted their long-time school rival Phillips Exeter. From halfway across the pool, Andover Water Polo started strong in the first quarter with a first goal from Theo Faugeres ‘21, another from Mathis Weber ‘20, and two more from Max Hunger ‘20. Hunger ‘20 scores another two goals in the second quarter along with one from Gregor Deveau ‘21 and Weber ‘20. Hunger ‘20 scores yet another two goals with one more from Deveau ‘21 in the third. At this point, Exeter has been catching up although Andover is still in the lead. Lastly, Hunger scores another goal in the final quarter but Exeter has caught up bringing up a 12-12 tie. Both teams eventually went into FIVE overtime sessions where the score remained the same until Exeter shot the tie breaking goal, ending with a 12-13 loss. This game is a testament to the diligence of the entire team and a game to down in A/E history.
