Andover dominates the 2024 NESPITT Doubles and B Singles Draw!

The Andover Boys brought home four trophies on the way to a very successful team showing at the New England Prep School Invitational Tennis Tournament at Choate Rosemary Hall this weekend. Ben Shin and Jeff Shen won the doubles championship, defeating Choate's Barbie/Liu in the quarterfinals, Exeter's David Dai and Josh Mullen in the semifinals, and Choate's Rodrigo Chon-Him and Will Henderson in the finals.

In the Singles A Draw, Jacob Pletka breezed through his first round match with an 8-0 victory against Hoosac's Enrico Amaro. He then faced Exeter's Kiran Raval in the quarterfinals, battling him valiantly but falling short 6-8. Chase Burke drew a tough first round opponent in Nobles' Rohan Rao and fell 5-8, but then reeled off four straight wins (def. Hoosac's Guillermo Gomez 8-3, Choate's Reid Bock 8-2, St. Paul's J.B. Estes 8-2, and finally Deerfield's Ethan Li 8-2 to win the A Draw's Consolation bracket.

Andover also dominated the B Singles Draw. Kevin Niu fought his way to the finals with wins against Loomis' Leo Lee (8-5), Exeter's Hugo Shinn (8-3), and Pomfret's Bill Vu (8-1) to reach the finals. On the other side of the bracket, Avery Zheng dominated his first two opponents with 8-0 wins against Wooster's Teddy Porter and Loomis' Andy Yang, and then knocked off Loomis' Trey Dodd (8-5) to reach the finals. In an All-Andover final, Kevin Niu battled teammate Avery Zheng and came out on top 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (5) to win the B Singles Draw.
