A Short Ride to a Big Win—Boys JV3 Soccer Team Still Undefeated
Andover traveled just a mile down the road to take on a talented team from the Pike School, and came away with a 2-0 victory. Both teams showed good skill early on, and Pike kept the pressure on goalie Ned Benner in the first half. But it was the Big Blue that took advantage of an offensive drive. Center back Daniel Matloff made a great run up the middle and received a pass about 30 yards out from the goal. He drove in a shot and the rebound popped out to Domenic Pieroni in the box, who wasted not a moment in putting away the first goal of the game to give Andover the lead. It was Nicholas Smith who found the net in the second half after a scramble in front of the goal. Henry Higginbottom had a great game in the defensive end; Owen McQuade was deceptive on the wing midfield; Zayne Rong managed both a piano recital and a strong second half showing in one afternoon; and Cyrus Emami was ready to sacrifice body parts for the team. With this victory, the team remains undefeated and ready for more competition!
