Last Minute Goal Boosts Andover to a Win
Last minute heroics gave the JV3 soccer team their second win of the season—and brought their record to 2-0. It was a slow start to the game, as Andover could not find their rhythm. Brooks put a big ball into PA’s zone and the defensive header flew back over the goalies reach. Despite the setback, the team battled on. Down 1-0 at halftime, the team tried to turn it around returning to the basics of two touch passing, keeping their heads up looking for the open space, and playing tenacious defense. Fourteen minutes into the second half center-midfielder Ren Oh dribbled through the Brooks defense and got in close to the goal, slipping the ball past the keeper to even the score. But the real drama came with under two minutes left. Andover served a corner into the box, but it was sent back out. A second cross led to a scuffle in front of the net and with a sweet finish, Aksel Kohler scored the winning goal. Holding off Brooks for the final minutes, Andover came away with a thrilling victory!
