What happens when you give up a goal in the first minute? A 5-1 victory!
The JV3 team took to Rafferty field today for their season opener against their arch rival Brooks. With just 2 weeks of practice, the 23 ninth graders put on the PA blue uniforms for the first time and brought forth a total team effort for a 5-1 victory.
Despite giving up a goal in the first minute of play, the boys in blue were not deterred and Mathew Troung opened the scoring just 3 minutes later. Rayyan Siddiq sent the ball forward and Troung gave a “shake and bake” to avoid 2 defenders and sent the ball past the keeper. Troung would later add an assist to his scoring total. Siddiq added 2 goals and another assist in the second half to lead the team in scoring. Javier Gomez-Amuedo had 2 goals and 1 assist and Kachi Ikekpeazu had an assist.
On the other end of the field, Cyrus Law had an outstanding match in goal, after the team lost keeper Bruce McLaren to an early injury. Excellent defensive play by Zane Orbon and Teo Choi held off the Brooks attack. All players contributed to this first win of the season.
