Ennen

After advancing to its third consecutive Central New England Prep Championship Game, Andover placed six players on the 2017 All-Central New England Prep Baseball Team. Taylor Beckett ’17 and Henry Ennen ’17 top the list, joined by Anthony Redfern ’18, Travis Lane ’18, Joe Simourian ’18, and Kai Marcos ’18.

Headed next year to play Ivy League baseball at Princeton University, Beckett – a three-year starter at third base – paced Andover in nearly every statistical category, including batting (.411), slugging (.536), on-base percentage (.538), hits (23), and RBIs (20). Beckett was also named All-Central New England Prep as a sophomore in 2015.

ENNEN ’17 (pictured) helped anchor the pitching staff with a 4-1 record and 0.85 ERA, fanning 46 while scattering just 17 hits and eight walks in 33 complete innings. Ennen – who’ll take the mound next year for Division 1 Northeastern University – tossed a complete-game gem as Andover advanced to the Central New England Prep title game with an 8-2 semifinal win over Tabor Academy.

Committed to play Division 1 baseball at Georgetown University, Redfern impressed on the mound with a 1.33 ERA, 28 strikeouts, and just four walks in 26.1 innings. Lane – a Boston College commit – went 4-0 on the mound with a pair of saves and did not surrender an earned run in 21.1 innings on the mound. Committed to play Division 1 baseball at Navy, Simourian bolstered the top of the lineup, batting .322 and scoring a team-best 24 runs, paired with stellar defense in centerfield. Marcos, meanwhile, batted a robust .339 and led the team with 13 stolen bases.

Andover finished the season at 15-4-1 overall and 10-1 in league play, earning the top seed in the Central New England Prep Championship Tournament.
