Congrats to our all-gender cycling team coached by Ben Duclos, Sara Parker, and Tedd Parker and captained by David Porto and Emily Wu who took on a notably cold and blustery Wednesday at NH Speedway in Loudon for its opening Individual Time Trials.
Andover Track and Field hosted our first home meet of the season on Wednesday, welcoming St. Paul’s School, Concord Academy, Winsor School, and Montrose School. Shout out to our incredibly dedicated team of coaches: Keri Lambert, Patrick Rielly, Chris Ishizuka-Wade, Rebecca Bowers, Andrew Cheng, Jamal English, Lisa Joseph, Kevin Ferrone, Steven Wilson, John Rex, and Rich Gorham.
The meet wouldn’t be possible without our officials -thank you in particular to Nick Zufelt, Meghan Clark & Bruce Bacon. Captains of PATF are Luke Williamson, Russell Robinson, Gracie Aziabor (newly elected 25-26 school co-president!) & Naima Reid. Here’s just a few of the many highlights on the day: Newcomers to PATF: Tommy Ginty ‘26 (5th in 100m), Denzil Pierre ‘25 (5 in the high jump), Jayden Franklin ‘25 (2 overall shotput), Lincoln Tomlinson ‘27, (4 overall 200m), Jake Jones ‘25 (4 in javelin)ndththMore great T&F performances from: Veronica Lewis ‘27 threw over 60’ in the javelin and doubled in 100First-time triple jumpers Henry He ‘26 finished 2 overall and amazing showing as well by Matilda Fletcher ‘27 and Chloe Nichols ‘27 with tremendous start in the final heat of the 100m to ultimately place well above her seed Corinne Spade ‘27 and Abby Odden ‘28 competing in 800m and 1500m, respectively, strong final stretch to out-kick athletes from other teams! Miranda Algire ‘25 cleared 4’ in hard conditions in the HJ (jumping against the wind!) Sarah Bae ‘26 finishing first in 100 hurdles and 2 in 300 hurdles. Both the Big Blue girls’ and boys’ teams emerged victorious on the day, including team highlights: Winning all 4 relays! Won 17 individual events: 110mH, 100m H, 400m B/G, 100m B/G, 800m B, 300m H B, 200m G, 3k B, HJ B/G, PVB/G, SP G, DT B/G43 athletes contributed to earning points for the team.
Congrats to our boys’ and girls’ crew teams (pictured at top), coached by Taylor Washburn, Andy Finch, Ellen Mizner, Amanda Foushee, Aidan Spencer, Logan Jester, Dale Hurley, Jose Zorilla-Mantilla & Ei Smith, and captained by seniors Luke Francis, Giuliana Cardinale and Maya Rogers for an impressive day ONE competing on the Merrimack Riverversus Deerfield Academy, St. John’s Prep, CRI and Glastonbury High School.
Congrats to both Boys’ Varsity and JV Volleyball, coached by Brendan Mackinson & Clyfe Beckwith and Sabrina Zurkhulen & Lorena Corbelli, and captained by seniors Arthur Wu and Inti Stephenson, for thrilling wins versus Phillips Exeter at home on Wednesday.
