Seven Phillips Academy seniors gathered with their family, friends, teammates, and coaches in the Title IX room of the Snyder Center at Phillips Academy to celebrate the signing of their NCAA National Letters of Intent (NLI), committing to continue their athletic careers at scholarship granting institutions.
Today, traditionally known as "National Signing Day", marked the first day of the academic year that student-athletes are permitted to sign an NLI. We expect other Andover student-athletes to sign at later dates.*
The Andover athletes who signed their NLIs today include an ice hockey player: Lexington Secreto ’22 (New Windsor, NY) The Ohio State University, a field hockey player: Julia Hall '22 (Englewood, CO) Georgetown University, two lacrosse players: Tory Rider ’22 (Essex, CT) College of the Holy Cross, Hannah Kent ’22 (Ostrea Lake, Nova Scotia) Niagara University, and three baseball players: CJ Egrie '22 (Pleasantville, NJ) College of the Holy Cross, Thomas McAndrews '22 (Haverhill, MA) Fordham University, and Jake Needham '22 (North Reading, MA) College of the Holy Cross.
*Please Note: The NCAA Division 1 Ivy League and United States Service Academies do not participate in the NLI program, nor do NCAA Division 3 institutions. In addition, many Andover student-athletes receive merit-based scholarships and are recruited to join teams at their colleges and universities. The Phillips Academy Athletic Department plans to gather and celebrate the accomplishments of all of our non-NLI student-athletes in the spring.
