Dani Nugent '25 won her third national prep title.

On the road...again!

As the winter season winds down, championships and excitement winds up with a number of our teams achieving great success on the road in the last week.

Wrestling traveled to the National Prep Wrestling Championships at Lehigh University this past weekend. Co-Captain Dani Nugent ‘25 (pictured inset) and Toni Elliott ‘27 (pictured above) returned as National Champions, Dani for the third time in four years. Co-captain Julian Rios went 5-1 on the weekend and placed 3rd; Serra Akyali ‘28 went 3-2 and placed 4th. Congrats to all and thank you to coaches Kassie Batemen, Jason York, and Rich Gorham.

U.S. High School Team Squash Nationals at Drexel University and U. Penn

Girls’ and boys’ squash, coached by Shaun Duffy and captained by Migyu Kim and Ellie Israelov and coach John Roberts and captains Will Weissman and Avery Lin on the boys’ side, had an exciting (and exhausting!) three days in Philadelphia. Our girls’ team captured a 7th place finish in the nation and our boys’ team finished 13th - both tremendous achievements against the top competition of high school squash in the country.

Girls’ Basketball traveled to Deerfield Academy on Saturday to participate in the 8-school tournament and brought home two wins versus Deerfield Academy and Lawrenceville School. On Wednesday, girls’ basketball also snagged a 58-50 Varsity W versus BBN as well as a 29-21 dub for JVhoops. Congrats to all - including our coaches Jen Weissbach, Chris Jones, Molly Creamer (varsity) and Gene Hughes, and Adrian Venzon (JV).

Boys’ Basketball is also posting big results in the second half of the season. JV coaches Tom Kane and Andy Finch are leading the way as their squad boasts one of their best seasons in recent memory - with nine consecutive wins looking to grab the final W versus Phillips Exeter next Saturday. Varsity hoops, coached by TI, Dan Schneider, and Malkese Edwards, found their way to an exciting on-the-road win versus Belmont Hill in the final moments of the game on Saturday, 60-59 behind a game-winning jumper by Solomon Marshall.

PATF traveled to Phillips Exeter on Wednesday for their last team meet of the 24-25 season with numerous highlights - including the girls’ team bringing home a victory on the day. Emma Hagstrom and Arashi Hunter earned performers of the meet for doubling in the mile AND 2-mile.

The Girls 4×200-Meter Relay (Ela Budzinski, Jenna Robertson-Palmer, Caitlin Ly, and Michelle Onyeka) ran 1:46.37 (a qualifying time for New Balance Nationals Indoor ), Marc Nelson ‘27 high jump recorded 6’4.25”, and

Bennett Rogers 26 cleared 14’1” in the Pole Vault – a height that has stood for 57 years.
