On Saturday afternoon, Choate traveled to Andover to compete against the Big Blue in 16 contests ... 14 Andover teams emerged victorious!

GV Hockey earned an exciting 5-3 win over Choate with five different scorers finding the back of the net. Avery Hutchins '29 notched the first goal of her career off an outlet pass from goalie Marie Lee '28 (her first career point!) Of special note, we celebrated a remarkable milestone with Sarah Powers '26 reaching the 100-point mark! Earlier in the week, GVHockey defeated Governors 6-0. Marie Lee '28 recorded the shutout in net with 13 saves, while seniors Sarah Powers (2 goals, 3 assists) and Caroline Averill (2 goals, 2 assists) led the offense. Rounding out the scoring were Lilly McInerney '26 and Jacqueline Louie '29 (with her first career goal!). Girls’ Varsity Hockey is coached by Martha Fenton, Matt Hession, and Dan Holland.

Boys’ JV hockey, coached by Peter Dignard and Colin Phelan, extended their record to 4-1-1 with a strong 83 win over the Wild Boars. Ninth graders led the way with John Kim notching a hat trick and Alex Ingham scoring two goals of his own in the dub.

Girls’ Varsity Basketball secured one of their biggest wins in recent history with a thrilling 52-47 result over Choate Rosemary Hall. It was a true team effort, with some particularly impressive play from ninth-grader Sophie Stetson. In the final seconds of play, Jules Stephenson was ICE at the free throw line to secure the win. GV Hoops is coached by newly married Jen Weissbach (CONGRATS, Jen and Sabrina), Chris Jones, and Molly Creamer.

Boys’ Varsity Basketball - coached by Terrell Ivory, Dan Schneider, and Malkese Edwards - remain undefeated with six consecutive wins and a decisive 83-63 win over Choate on Saturday.

Boys’ Varsity hockey - coached by Paul Tortorella, Tedd Parker, and Patrick Pothel - is off to a great start to 2026 with two wins in four days. BVHockey brought home an 8-4 victory over St. George’s on Wednesday with seven different goal-scorers. On Saturday, the Big Blue earned a 4-1 win over Choate at home (highlights above). Upper Alex Theodore has led all scorers, with two goals in each game this week. Goalkeeper Edy Lord has been fantastic in net.

Congrats to boys’ and girls’ varsity squash, coached by John Robets and Shaun Duffy, respectively, and JV girls’ squash, coached by Joe Donnelly, on FOUR wins on Saturday. BV Squash defeated both visiting Taft School and Choate, and the girls’ squad won 12 matches total vs. Choate. On the girls’ JV side, Selene Xu, Helen McNeely, Ellaine Ban, Devika Hajarnavis, Bailey Xu, Chloe Brennan, and Shannon Chisholm earned wins against their Choate opponents.

On Friday evening, the Nordic Ski team opened up their season at the Weston Ski Track with less than ideal weather conditions but MORE than ideal energy and positive spirit. The top finisher for Andover in the Girls 5k race was Julia Xu ’28, followed by Hannah Jung ’28 and Iris Liu ’26, Celine Lee ’28, L Young ’27, Rianna Bajaj ’29, Kate Birdsall ’26, and Maxie Wu ’28, all raced in their first race. The top finisher for Andover in the Boys 5k race was Sebastian Vermut ’27, followed by Ansel Bartell ’28, Matt Robinson ‘27, and Henry Wall ’27. Gavin Freeman ’26 won the beginners' race, and Hugo Shea ’27, Alfonso Gonzalez-Cano ’27, and Daniel Liu ’28 all raced in their first Nordic race. Members of PATF traveled to the Track at New Balance on Saturday and Sunday to compete at The Nor’Easter @ The Track - and returned home with incredible results. On Saturday, Amelia Alvazzi ‘26 broke the school record in the 1000m - the first Andover female runner to break the 3:00 minute mark! Senior Anya Budzinski finished first in the mile (5:12.62) - with a huge PR! The 4X200 of Julie Chan ‘27, Ela Budzinski ‘28, Lauren Signoriello ‘27, and Caitlin Ly ‘27 posted a school record time of 1:44.83, the fastest among Massachusetts schools this season.
