PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Andover girls’ squash team delivered a standout performance at the U.S. High School Squash Championships in Philadelphia last weekend, battling through a competitive bracket to earn third place nationally.

The tournament began on Friday with Andover securing two key victories. The team opened with a win over Springfield Chestnut Hill and followed up with a strong performance against powerhouse Agnes Irwin.

In the match against Springfield, Andover’s depth was on full display with wins from Isabella Tang, Judy Liu, Ava Kung, Minnie Kim, Lara Kim, Caroline Zhao, and Robin Lukens. That momentum continued against Agnes Irwin, where Tang, Liu, Kung, M. Kim, L. Kim, and Zhao all notched victories to advance the team into the semifinals.

After a semifinal loss against Hotchkiss, Andover faced Westover on Sunday to determine the third-place finisher. The contest proved to be the most competitive of the weekend, resulting in a narrow 4-3 victory for Big Blue.

Key wins from Isabella Tang, Judy Liu, and Ava Kung kept Andover in contention, but the overall team result came down to the final two matches on court. With both teams cheering loudly in a boisterous atmosphere, the pressure was high for the final players.

Rachel Levitsky provided the deciding point for Andover. After a grueling five-game match, Levitsky closed out the final set to secure the team win. The victory was met with celebrations from teammates who stayed to support the final matches.

The weekend marked a successful outing for the program, with every player elevating their performance to meet the level of national competition. All the girls should be commended for their consistency and teamwork throughout the tournament.
