(Windsor, CT) -- Each year, the Andover Boys' Swimming & Diving Team has one meet competed in a 25-meter pool rather than the usual 25-yard pool. So, each year, Andover has only one chance to set New England records at that distance.
While swimming at Loomis in 2020, Andover had an extremely rare moment. In the first heat of the 100 Breaststroke, Brandon Garcia '20 tied the New England record. In the second heat, Christopher Xia '23 swam faster than the New England record but was defeated by Arnold Su '20. Three people from the same team in the same event at the same meet tied or broke the New England record.
In his return to Loomis, Xia set the new standard: 1:03.67!
