Congratulations to wrestling co-captain Julian Rios ‘26 (pictured, inset), who reached his 100th career win on Wednesday afternoon with a 15-0 result versus his NMH opponent. Julian now stands alongside only three other Andover wrestlers to reach 100 wins on the mat. Julian will likely wrap up his high school career as the most celebrated wrestler in Andover history. On Saturday, the wrestling team came home with an impressive 5-0 record from the Avon Holiday Duals, with a most notable win over Brunswick School - the first team W against Brunswick in 15 years! Wrestling is coached by Kassie Bateman, Rich Gorham, Jason York, and Joe Nugent.
Speaking of record-breakers... Congrats to lower Jules Stephenson, who broke her own school record (set on 1/29/25) of 7-three three-pointers by draining NINE three-pointers on Saturday afternoon in an incredible battle versus last year’s Class A champion, Loomis Chaffee.
Pictured at top: Boys’ basketball remained undefeated and celebrates a big win at the Roundball Classic hosted at Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon. The Big Blue defeated The Hill School, 80-72. Varsity Basketball is coached by Terrell Ivory, Dan Schneider, and Malkese Edwards.
Congrats to JV girls’ hockey on a strong start to the year with an 11-2 dub over visiting St. Paul’s School on Wednesday - rebounding after falling behind 2-0 in the first period with 11 unanswered goals by eight different goal-scorers! Leading the way with two goals each were Josie Sarno and Sophia Demeo. JV girls’ hockey is coached by Jake Montanaro and Ei Smith.
JV boys’ hockey posted a 1-1-1 week with a home victory on Harrison Arena on Saturday afternoon, 4-1, and a strong 0-0 result versus Belmont Hill on Friday evening. Goal scorers on Saturday were Matteo Damian, Lucas Chao, Andrew Ren, and Will Unetich. Goalkeepers Owen Burke and Charles Yu conceded only one goal in two games. JV boys’ hockey is coached by Peter Dignard and Colin Phelan.
Boys’ varsity hockey had a thrilling come-from-behind 4-3 OT win on Saturday evening versus New Hampton. The Big Blue write-up reads as dramatic as the Saturday nightcap: The boys scored three straight, including the overtime winner, to cement an important win. Upper Kieran McIntosh tied the score off a yeoman play by roommate and fellow upper Nate Kreppner late in the third. In the OT, senior Alex Small took a Zachary Fedele pass down low and then sneaked the puck out to Captain David O'Neill for the winner. There was an enthusiastic crowd of students on hand that no doubt contributed to the win. The big story, however, was goalie Eddy Lord, who, after a less-than-stellar first period, stood up in the locker room in between periods and delivered a rallying cry of Shakespearian proportions, including the promise to shut down the opponent for the rest of the game, which he did
