Andover punctuated its 2018 championship season with a 15-2 rivalry-week win over visiting Exeter, finishing the year at 20-2 and celebrating its fourth Central New England Prep title in the last four years.

Zanazzi '18 Andover shrunk its team ERA to a minuscule 0.94 with yet another strong ensemble effort on the mound, led by crafty southpaw Jake Zanazzi '18 (PICTURED), who drew the start, earned the win, and held Exeter to just two hits and one unearned run in three strong innings. Jackson Emus '19 took over from there, before giving way to Travis Lane '18 in the seventh and Anthony Redfern '18 in the ninth. Emus, Lane, and Redfern combined to limit Exeter to just one hit and one unearned run in six innings of relief.

The offense, meanwhile, pounded out 15 hits, highlighted by sophomore Lucas Stowe's 3-for-4 afternoon. Joe Simourian '18 singled, doubled, and drove in a trio of runs and scored three more to bolster the attack. Tristan Latham '19 doubled and singled as well, while Mike Guanci '18 and Jack Penney '21 each singled twice and scored a pair of runs.

Exeter drew first blood when an infield error with two outs in the top of the third gifted Exeter the game's first run and advanced runners to second and third. Zanazzi responded, though, inducing a routine fly-out with a bread-and-butter changeup that's served him well all season.

Andover answered with a four-run flurry in the bottom of the third, courtesy of singles by Penney, Guanci, Simourian, and Stowe, and a walk by Zach Fitzgerald '18, who contributed quality at-bats time and again.

The score remained 4-1 until the bottom of the seventh, but Andover broke it open with six in the seventh and five in the eighth. Latham ignited the eighth-inning barrage with a leadoff double, followed by consecutive singles by Penney and Guanci, a double by Simourian, a single by Kai Marcos '18, and an opposite-field double to the gap in left-centerfield by pinch hitter Sam Conte '18.
