GXC Claims Victory in Varsity and JV Races

PAXC had a terrific team performance at its first home meet since the Fall of 2019. In the combined race, Varsity won 20-41 and JV won 18-43.

At the front of the race, Charlotte Whitehurst '22 and Choate's frontrunner battled it out stride-for-stride from the very start through the last lap around the Great Lawn. Choate's athlete took the win in the final kick, but Whitehurst ran her way to a hard-earned personal record from a gutsy race, paving the way for four more teammates-- Tiffany Tang '22, Patricia Tran '24, Caroline Empey '22, and Izzy Alvarez Martinez '23-- to claim places third, fourth, fifth, and sixth, as well as their own personal records. Ashley Song '23 and Naima Reid '25 rounded out Andover's Varsity seven.

PAGXC's JV squad demonstrated the power of pack running and working together. Claire de Saint Phalle '22 led the second seven, followed by Emma Hagstrom '25 (who took more than 2 minutes off of her 5k time from the NMH Invitational last week), Elizabeth Zhang '22, Amelia Vinton '22, Vanessa Fan '23, Abbie Cheng '23, and, in her first ever 5k wearing an Andover singlet, Lily Williamson '25.

The team savored every moment of being able to host at home. They brought positivity and mental toughness to make the best of this idyllic Fall day. Next up, they will travel to Concord, NH to take on St. Paul's school a week from now on Saturday 10/16.
