Andover 2 -Milton 3 (26-28,19-25,24-22,25-23,18-20)
So proud of PAVB - a day dedicated to our two seniors, Sophie H. and Saraya A, our leaders, captains, and both injured unable to suit up today. Fitting that we had a legend, Mr. Kuta, with us today as our honorary coach on the bench.
Wow. A repeat of last year’s battle. A march for comebacks. PAVB dug themselves a deep hole, seven service errors AND tied it up at 24-24, though losing the first set 26-28. The second set, with just as many side-outs as the first gave Milton a sizable 2-0 set advantage. In the third set, Andover down 19-22 sided out to 20-22 and Ashley S. stepped to the service line and fired off 4 aces that secured us a 4th set. 25-22. In the fourth set, Andover again down by as many as 4 points, tied it up at 13-13, took a lead at 20-16, 22-18, 24-20, and held of Milton at 24-23 for a 25-23 win that evened up the match at 2-2.
The fifth set would prove no different. Andover down 2-6, 6-11 fought back on the serve of Kaliah F. to tie it at 13-13, had the match point at 14-13, defended 14-15, had two more match points at 16-15, 17-16, defended 17-18 to tie it at 18-18. Milton persevered for a 20-18 win.
So much appreciation for the PAVB family. The players, the coaches, the athletic trainers, the caretakers of the building, the athletics office, the equipment room; the parents, friends, our student fans.
We have a week to prepare for A/E, hosting Exeter and an always raucous crowd.
