PAGVT Defeats Exeter to go 8-0

The girls in blue traveled north to Exeter short two seniors (Amy Oku and Claire Cheng), and with several of the girls still recovering from illness. Despite these difficulties and another week with a modified line-up, the team brought high energy and enough joy to offset the rainy conditions that forced us inside.

Doubles play kicked off the afternoon, and 2nd and 3rd dubs quickly set the tone for the afternoon with 8-2 and 8-3 wins, respectively. 1st doubles teammates Lena Ciganer-Albeniz ('25) and Kendra Tomala ('26) fought back from an early deficit to win 8-6, bringing the team into singles up 3-0.

Lena Ciganer-Albeniz ('25) at 2nd singles and Evelyn Kung ('26) at 4th singles brought home the first two singles victories. Lara Madan ('27) fought hard at 5th singles, but ultimately Exeter took home the win in a closely-contested 10-point tiebreaker. Nitya Madduri ('28) at 3rd singles and Mercan Draman ('26) at 6th singles took the courts and, with the match decided, played one set and each brought home a win. Finally, Kendra Tomala ('26) at 1st singles recovered from dropping the first set 5-7 to win in a 3rd set super-breaker.

The team celebrated with Thai food and look ahead to our match on Monday vs. B.B.&N.!
