GVS battles back for 2-1 win over Worcester Academy
In a thrilling Class A match-up, GVS notched two goals in seven minutes of play late in the second half to earn a 2-1 victory. As expected the game was fast paced and well-executed by both teams - each creating dangerous chances in the final third of play.
Worcester found its way to the scoreboard first with under five minutes remaining to the half. However, GVS doubled down its effort and mindset in the second half of play and broke through in the 22nd minute for its first score. Ashley Dimnaku '28 sent a dangerous cross into the box finding Kate Comella who stuck with the play for a gritty goal. Seven minutes later, Ashley got taken down 30 yards out and blasted a ball on frame that Anne Dunn put way for the go-ahead goal.
Stellar back-field play shout out to captains Keaghan Murphy and Lily Loughlean, Maddie Shin and Nina Oswanski as well as GK/captain Adele Russell. Ashley Dimnaku was named Player of the Game. Thanks to all those who came out in support of GVS. The team stretched its record to 4-0.
