Incredible team effort secures 2-0 W over Worcester
Andover's goal scored by captain Emily Mara in the first 30 seconds of play set the tone for the game - a intense, back-and-forth match-up with a perennially talented Worcester Academy. Worcester knotted the score at in the 33rd minute to bring the teams into the haltime, 1-1.
GVS turned up their play in the final 40 creating some dangerous opportunities in the final third. At 18 minutes remaining, Mara broke free on the wing to blast home the game winner.
This was a true team effort with stellar play by all - notably goalkeeper Jackie Dill who came up big to secrue the win with four saves and the back-line of Lily Keim, Ava Davey, Keaghan Murphy and Emily Decker who repeated shut down a rush Worcester front line. Midfielders, Lauren Herlihy, Lolg Aguirre, Ashley Dimnaku, Elizabeth Wodarski and Hayden Fischer stood out in their composed transition, possession play and the attack was led by speedy front-runners Emily Mara, Wylie Roossien, Ginny Marshall and Sarah Powers.
A true team effort with an extra shout out to Keaghan named Player of the Game for her grittiness in the air and on the ground.
Thanks, as always, to all our families who support - and lots of Big Blue student fans on the sidelines.
