GVS opens the season with strong, 3-0 W on the Road
GVS hit the road to the Rivers School on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and brought home a 3-0 victory behind three different goal scorers, Lily Zacher '30, Ashley Dimnaku '28, and Isabel Park '28.
Midway through the first half, Ashley Dimnaku blasted a shot on frame that was followed up in the box by Zacher for her first career goal. In the second half of play, Nina Oswanksi sent a brilliant ball to the far post that Ashley Dimnaku headed into the back of the net. Nearing the final ten minutes of play, Emma Morrison crossed the ball to find teammate Isabel Park to extend the lead to 3-0.
The back line of Nina Osawanksi, Maddy Shin and captains Lily Loughlean and Keaghan Murphy as well as GK Adele Russell kept the Rivers offense at bay and secured the shutout.
Player of the Game was Lily Zacher. Thanks to all of our fans who made the trip and to the Russell family who brought delicious snacks. The team has their season opener this Wednesday against Class A power, Milton Academy. GO BIG BLUE!
