Seniors lead way as GVS extends record to 2-0

On another perfect afternoon on Smoyer Field, GVS extended their record to 2-0 as they earned an 8-4 win over visiting Rivers School. Our five seniors were the story of the day as co-captain Wylie Roossien, co-captain Emily Decker, Lola Aguirre, Mura Daisley and Sarah Powers combined for eight goals and 7 assists.

Co-captain Wylie Roossien '26 put the Big Blue on the board minutes into the game as she was taken down in the box, earning a PK. At the 13th minute, co-captain Emily Decker '26 blasted a shot from the left flank, assisted by senior Mura Daisley. In the final 20 minutes of the first half, our seniors continued to shine - Lola Aguirre notched her second goal is as many games on a great run into the box for the finish. Decker struck again in the 33rd minute of play pushing the score to 4-0. Rivers notched a gritty goal in the final minutes of the first half bringing the score to 4-1.

In the second half of play, Sarah Powers and Mura Daisley each found the back of the next twice - all four goals assisted by Wylie Roossien. Wylie finished the game with 6 (!) assists on the day.

An overall full team effort that steps the team forward into the second week of play when they will face Middlesex School on the road on Wednesday.

Captain Emily Decker not only scored two goals but she showed tremendous leadership and gritty defensive play for the full 80. Decker was named Player of the Game.

Thanks to all our family, friends and teachers who came out to support.
