Strong Showing for GVS at Prep Playday
GVS is off to an exciting start to the 2025 fall season. Andover traveled to Dexter-Southfield for the annual Prep Playday and matched up against an always talented Class A squad, Milton Academy. After 40 minutes of play, Andover matched up against 2024 Class B champions, Dexter Southfield.
In the first match-up, co-captain Wylie Roossien '26 tallied both goals for the Big Blue, her first goal assisted by senior Sarah Powers. While Milton tucked in a goal in the final seconds of the first forty minutes, shout-out to Andover backs, Keaghan Murphy, Lily Loughlean, Nina Oswanski, co-captain Emily Decker and Cedar Leckerling as well as goalkeeper Deli Russell who did a great job containing the Milton offense.
In the second half of play, Andover faced a talented Dexter team who pushed numbers and high pressed from moment one. Once again, the Andover defense shined - as did goalkeeper Jackie Dill to earn the shutout.
First ever GVS minutes were earned by newcomers to the squad: Emma Sharon '29, Audrey Gotha '28, Lily Loughlean '27, Cedar Leckerling '28, Maddie Shin '27, and Emma Morrison '28,
Thanks to all our family members who came out in support as well as former GVS captain Emily Mara '25 who joined on the sidelines! We look forward to our season opener versus Groton on Wednesday at home on Smoyer Field.
