GVS falls to 2022 Class B champs, Pingree
GVS welcomed Pingree School to Phelps Stadium in front of an enthusiastic crowd on Monday night. Pingree struck first just minutes into the game on a corner kick to which Andover responded minutes later on a counter attack off a second Pingree corner - captain Jazzy Cormier finding her fellow co-captain Emily Mara '25 on a one-v-one with the Pingree keeper. Knotted at 1-1, Pingree struck again on a free kick from 30 yards away mid-way through the first half.
While GVS created a lot of offensive pressure heading into the first half and throughout the second half - including a blast off the post - they could not find the back of the net. An Andover own-goal kept the game out of reach.
Sophomore back Emily Decker was named Player of the Game. The team looks forward to returning to Phelps Stadium on Wednesday to face Class A opponent Austin Prep.
