GVS secures home-opening win, 1-0 over Milton Academy
On a blue-sky day over Smoyer Field, an incredible team effort for 80-minutes of play led to a 1-0 victory over Class A power Milton Academy.
The game was high-paced from start to finish with both teams creating dangerous opportunities in the final third. However, it was Andover who found the back of the net with 12 minutes remaining in the first half on a 25-yard blast for outside back Maddie Shin '27. The strong play of our back line - Keaghan Murphy, Lily Loughlean, Nina Oswanski and Shin - as well as eleven saves from senior captain/GK Adele Russell - inspired the entire Big Blue team.
Maddie Shin was named Player of the Game.
